What is a TikTok transcript generator?
A TikTok transcript generator is an online tool that gives you the words spoken in a TikTok video as text. ScribeShort first reads the caption track that TikTok attaches to the video. If a video has no captions, it transcribes the speech from the audio instead. Either way, you paste a link and get the text back.
When captions exist, you get the same words you would see with captions switched on in the app, cleaned up into one readable block that you can copy or save.
How to get a transcript of a TikTok video
- Open the video in the TikTok app or on tiktok.com, tap Share, and choose Copy link.
- Paste the link into the box at the top of this page.
- Click Get Transcript and wait a few seconds.
- Read the text, click Copy to put it on your clipboard, or click Download .txt to save it as a file.
That is the whole process. There is no sign-up, no watermark, and nothing to install.
Which TikTok links work?
Any link to a public TikTok video works, including:
- Full links such as
https://www.tiktok.com/@username/video/1234567890123456789 - Short links copied from the app, such as
https://vm.tiktok.com/XXXXXXX/,https://vt.tiktok.com/XXXXXXX/orhttps://www.tiktok.com/t/XXXXXXX/ - Mobile links that start with m.tiktok.com
Paste one link at a time. Links to profiles, hashtags, sounds, or the For You page do not point to a single video, so they cannot be transcribed.
Why does it say the video has no captions or clear speech?
The tool returns text when TikTok has captions for the video or when it can hear clear speech in the audio. You will see the message This video has no captions or clear speech we can read when:
- The video has no speech, for example music only or text on screen only.
- The speech is too unclear to transcribe, for example loud music over the voice.
- The video is private, deleted, age-restricted, or not available in the region the request runs from.
- TikTok did not hand the video over, which can happen with very new uploads or during outages.
If the video is new, try again later. Otherwise the only option is a different video.
How accurate is the transcript?
When TikTok has captions, the transcript is exactly as accurate as those captions. When the speech has to be transcribed from the audio, accuracy depends on the recording. Clear speech in a quiet room is usually very good. Fast talking, background music, strong accents, slang, brand names, and people talking over each other lower the quality. Read the text once before you quote it or publish it.
What can you do with a TikTok transcript?
- Quote a creator accurately in an article, newsletter, or report.
- Turn a video script into a blog post, caption, or social media post.
- Keep a text copy of your own videos so you can reuse the script later.
- Search and study what is actually said in videos, not only hashtags and titles.
- Make content easier to follow for people who prefer reading or cannot hear the audio.
- Translate the words with any translation tool.
Privacy and limits
- ScribeShort does not store your links or transcripts. There is no database and no account.
- The caption reading, and the audio transcription when a video has no captions, are done by a third-party processing service (Apify). It receives the video link, returns the text, and keeps run data for a limited time under its own policy.
- Audio transcription is only attempted for videos up to about two minutes long. Longer videos need TikTok's own captions.
- Each visitor can request up to 5 transcripts per day. This keeps the tool free.
- Only public videos work. The tool never logs in to TikTok and cannot reach private content.
- ScribeShort is not affiliated with TikTok. The words in a video belong to its creator, so ask for permission before you republish them.
