Privacy Policy

ScribeShort is built to work without collecting personal data. You do not need an account, the site sets no cookies of its own, and it does not keep the links you paste or the transcripts you receive. This page explains what little is processed and why.

What is processed when you use a tool

• The video link you paste. It is sent to our server, checked, and passed to the caption-reading service described below. ScribeShort does not save it.
• Your IP address. It is used to count how many transcripts you request per day so the free limit can be enforced. The count expires at the end of the day (UTC time). If a shared counter store is configured, the same expiry applies there.
• Standard technical logs. Our hosting provider records requests (such as the time, the page address, and the IP address) for a limited time in order to run and protect the service.

Services we rely on

• Apify (apify.com) reads the captions or, when a video has none, transcribes its audio. It receives the video link, runs the reader, and returns the text. Apify keeps a record of each run, including the link and the returned text, in our Apify account for a limited period under its own data retention policy, after which it is deleted automatically.
• Vercel (vercel.com) hosts the website and keeps the technical logs mentioned above.

Each of these companies has its own privacy policy. We do not sell your information and we do not share it with anyone else.

Cookies and tracking

ScribeShort sets no cookies and uses no advertising or analytics trackers at this time. If that changes, this page will be updated before the change goes live.

What you receive

The transcript shown to you is created from the video's public captions or its audio. ScribeShort does not keep a copy. If you download the .txt file, it is created in your browser and saved only on your device.

Children

ScribeShort is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data about you. Because ScribeShort keeps no account data and no transcripts, there is usually nothing to delete, but you can contact us with any request or question.

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
